How to walk the fine line between academic and policy research?

Discussant: Jana Bacevic, visiting research fellow at CEU’s Department of public policy

Dr Nokkala introduced some of the different projects being developed in the ‘space’ between academic and policy research, connected them to both academic and policy perspectives and warned of potential conflicts, ethical and other, between these two fields. Dr Jana Bacevic, who was the discussant, provided some thoughts on potentially different (or not) epistemologies related to these two modes of research. The discussion between participants evolved in the direction of comparing different approaches to research and writing in academia and in policy, as well as ethnical issues related to the ‘overlap’ of these two areas.
